Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC)

The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company, established in 1976 as the Egyptian Electricity Authority, is responsible for all power plants, transmission and distribution in the Arab Republic of Egypt. In 2001, EEHC and its subsidiaries were restructured under a new umbrella of 16 companies – six companies for electricity production, the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company and nine companies for electricity distribution. Through various investment and development programmes, the country’s maximum load increased from 3306 MW in 1980/1981 to 15,678 MW in 2009/2008 resulting in increasing power generated from 20 billion KWh to 131 billion KWh.The average growth rate of the installed capacity is 7.52% per year during the period from 2011/2012 till 2015/2016, reaching a total installed capacity of 38,857MW for the year 2015/2016.
