NICOSIA, April 27, 2020 – EuroAfrica Interconnector, the Project Developer of the 2000MW electricity interconnector that links the national grids of Egypt with Cyprus, announces that it has entered into direct negotiations with Siemens for the construction of the VSC Converter Station in Egypt.
The contract encompasses the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Installation of the Stage One 1000MW VSC Converter Station in Egypt that will be connected to the VSC Converter Station in Kofinou, Cyprus.
Stage One of the 1000MW EuroAfrica Interconnector will be operational by December 2023.
